Indications (Medical Use)

Tapentadol is a centrally acting analgesic (pain reliever) used for:

• Moderate to severe acute pain

• Chronic pain management (including neuropathic pain)

Mechanism of Action

• Dual action:

  1. μ-opioid receptor agonist (like opioids → reduces pain perception)

  2. Norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (NRI) (enhances pain suppression in spinal pathways)
